Pork sausage seasoned with ketchup and topped with curry powder. It is quite simple but pretty famous both for locals and tourists. There is even a Currywurst Museum in Berlin!

 

No. 2 Döner (Kebab)

It is originally from Turkey, but adapted into the German style. It is filled with sliced spit-roasted meat topped with an abundance of lettuce, tomato, onions, cabbage, and chili flakes in pita bread.

 

No. 3 Bratwurst

This is a street food that you can buy easily in Germany. Basically it’s grilled German white sausage serving with butter roll, ketchup and mustard. It is a tasty snack to stave off your hunger.

 

No. 4 Leber Käse

The phrase “Leber Käse” literally means ‘liver cheese’ even though it contains neither liver nor cheese. It is grinded meat with some ingredients baked as a loaf in a rectangle pan. Usually it is served with bread roll while still hot and mustard mixed with traditional seasoning. A perfect match for a pint of beer!

 

No. 5 Schaschlikspieß

Schaschlikspieß is a mixture of meat, peppers, bacon and zucchini grilled on a skewer. The meat is soft and well flavored by marinade. German people enjoy cooking and eating it with bread in their own house garden.

 

No. 6 Kartoffel Salat

A tasty potato salad mixed with a variety of ingredients. Kartoffel Salat is tasty itself, but Germans prefer eating it together with wine and hot dog!

 

No. 7 Germknödel

Germknödel is a fluffy yeast dough dumpling with vanilla cream sauce, melted butter, seeds, sugar on top, and plum sauce in the middle. If you go to Germany on Easter or Christmas time, you can easily find it at Easter/Christmas market.

 

No. 8 Laugenbretzel

Known also as Pretzel, Laugenbretzel is actually a type of baked bread product made from dough most commonly shaped into a knot. Salt is the most common seasoning for pretzels; other seasonings include sugars, chocolate and butter.

 

No. 9 Boulette

A famous meatball, usually served with batter rolls and tomato sauce. Decorated with basil, it looks so yummy that you will not be able to get your hands and mouths away from it!

 

No. 10 Shawarma

Similar to Kebab but originally from Arab. It is being served as a wrap most of the time, , containing lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal, or mixed meats with various toppings, salads or sauces.
